PINEVILLE — Kairi Lamb continued her impressive play by recording a double-double while leading Bell County to a 59-40 win over 52nd District rival Middlesboro.
Lamb finished with 19 points and pulled down 17 rebounds as Bell County cruised to the 19-point win.
David Teague’s squad improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 against 52nd District teams while Middlesboro is now 3-2, and 0-1.
“Good district win for our team,” Teague said. “Thought the girls did a great job defensively, especially early in the game. We made some outside shots and that helped us open things up. We’ll keep working and pushing to get better. Go Lady Cats.”
The Lady Bobcats’ largest lead came at 20 points, when they stretched the margin to 45-25.
Bell County led 23-16 before using a 12-1 run to create separation.
The Lady Bobcats carried a 29-17 advantage into halftime and maintained control the rest of the way.
Middlesboro responded after trailing 47-27 with a seven-point run, but Bell County answered and put the game away.
Lamb took over in the third quarter, scoring 10 points as the Lady Bobcats outscored the Lady Yellow Jackets 18-10 during the period to extend the lead.
Bell County shot the ball well from the perimeter, connecting on 10-of-21 attempts from 3-point range. Nevaeh Allen, Aubree Miracle, and Gracie Barton each knocked down multiple 3-pointers. The Lady Bobcats also controlled the glass, finishing with 38 rebounds, and had nine assists.
Defensively, Bell County stood tall in the paint, blocking six shots. Lamb led the way with four blocks.
Allen added 18 points for the Lady Bobcats, while Barton finished with 11 points and Miracle scored nine. Bristal Jordan chipped in two points to round out the scoring.
Addison Lucas led Middlesboro with 12 points while Millie Roberts scored 11 points, and Morgan Martin finished with 10 points.
