WILLIAMSBURG — Angela Singleton’s Whitley County Lady Colonels continue to thrive in cold weather.
Since returning from spring break while having to deal with temperatures under 50 degrees this past week, the Lady Colonels recorded their third straight win while scoring at least 18 runs apiece in each of the games.
“Super proud of the fight that the girls had tonight at the plate,” Singleton said. “It was touch and go. Lynn Camp is a good hitting team and they make solid contact. “We had a few defensive miscues and pitching mistakes, but our offense was able to keep us in the game and then lock up the win! I’m very proud of the colonels tonight.”
Whitley County (6-9) delivered 16 hits during Friday’s 18-8 win over Lynn Camp as four players had at least three hits and two players delivered two hits. The Lady Colonels also took advantage of eight errors by the Lady Wildcats (4-6).
Hallie Huddleston had three hits, four RBI, and two runs scored while Payton Hurst finished with three hits, three RBI and two runs scored. MIA Prewitt delivered three hits, two RBI, and four runs scored while Cambree Price finished with three hits, an RBI, and four runs scored. Caylee Singleton delivered two hits and three RBI while Jadynn Johnson had two hits, two RBI, and a runs scored while scored. Adalee Johnson, Madilyn Raines and Morgan Huddleston each finished with an RBI apiece.
Singleton got the win, allowing eight hits, and four earned runs while striking out six batters.
Julie Moore and Charity Steele each delivered home runs for the Lady Wildcats.
