LONDON — Kenzie Williams dominated in the pitcher’s circle while Ryleigh Bretz delivered a home run as South Laurel cruised past Estill County on Friday with a 7-0 win.
Williams limited the Lady Engineers to only five hits while striking out 11 batters.
Bretz’s solo shot over the fence highlighted a 10-hit effort from the Lady Cardinals, who improved to 9-3.
“Great game in all phases tonight,” South Laurel’s coach Carly Mink said. “Got a really great effort on the mound from Kenzie and defensively we played really clean behind her. Offensively, we were able to get runners on and get hits to drive them in. Loved our effort tonight.”
Williams also helped her own cause by delivering two hits while recording three RBI. Emmie Rice had two hits and an RBI while Addison Baker, and Skye Lewis also connected with run-scoring hits.
South Laurel’s started red-hot, scoring two runs out of the gate before adding another run in the second inning. The Lady Cardinals secured the win with two runs ins in both the third and fourth innings.
