Redhounds snap four-game skid with key hitting and pitching

CHOCTAWHATCHEE, Tenn. — Cody Philpot’s Corbin Redhounds rallied from a 6-2 deficit in the fifth inning to snap their four-game losing skid on Wednesday.
The Redhounds (4-5) pushed across three runs in the fifth inning, one run in the sixth inning, and two runs in the seventh inning to prevail.
“Big team win for us,” Philpot said. “We’ve been through a meat grinding part of our schedule and it was great to see us fight through some adversity and come up with the clutch hits and plays we’ve been needing. Cruz (Cima) and Kade (Elam) both threw well and kept us in the game and we had several contributors to set us up offensively. Some huge bunts and long at-bats, sac flys that may get overlooked but absolutely changed the game for us.”

Elam went 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and three runs scored while Jaden Broughton delivered two hits, and four RBI. Noah Cima and Trey Preston each finished with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored apiece while Cam Estep had a hit. Clay Botner and Lucas Tarvin each scored a run apiece while Kaidan Freeman drove in a run

Cruz Cima started the game going 3.2 innings while allowing seven hits, and two earned runs. He struck out one batter. Elam picked up the win by pitching three scoreless innings while allowing two hits. He struck out five batters.
