Cardinals suffer first loss, fall to Strongsville, 6-1

MYRTLE BEACH, SC — South Laurel’s suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday, dropping a 6-1 decision to Strongsville.
The game was scoreless for three innings before the Mustangs broke through for three runs before adding three more insurance runs in the top of the sixth.
The Cardinals (7-1), who were no-hit, attempted to rally, but only pushed across a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Will Alsip drove in South Laurel’s lone run.
Keaton Smith suffered the loss, lasting five innings while allowing nine hits, and no earned runs. He struck out two batters. Tyler Curry pitched the final two innings, allowing two hits, and three earned runs.
