MYRTLE BEACH, SC — North Laurel got back to its winning ways in a big way on Wednesday.

After being limited to only one hit against Boyd County, the Jaguars (5-6) with 13 hits during their 14-0 win over Union County.

Cooper Elza turned in a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI, and three runs scored while Carter Kelley had two hits, three RBI, and two runs scored. Austin Napier also delivered at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs scored while Cooper Parman dominated on the mound, picking up the win while pitching five shutout innings, and limiting Union County to only two hits. He also struck out seven batters.

“Great way to finish the week,” North Laurel coach Darrin McWhorter said. “Cooper Parman threw a great game, and we struck the ball well with several players having multiple hits. Their pitching was similar to the Strongville team we played. We didn’t hit the ball.

“The Boyd County team we played was a different story,” he added. “We saw a kid throwing 88 to 91 miles per hour, and Eli Holt broke up the no-hitter in the last inning. We made good adjustments at the plate played well defensively. That’s what it takes to win games.”

North Laurel jumped out to a 2-0 lead before adding four runs in the second inning, and two more runs in the third inning. The Jaguars put the game out of reach with a six-run fifth inning.

Cam Smith had a hit and drove in two runs while Parman and Eli Holt both delivered a hit and an RBI apiece. Cam Hinkle had a hit and scored once while Bradyn Evans also finished with a hit and a run scored.
