Clay County overcame a slower start in the opening set before taking complete control and sweeping Red Bird, 25-17, 25-12, 25-7, for another district victory.
“We loved getting another home district win tonight,” Clay County coach Kendall Deaton Culver said. “We struggled to set the tone in the first set and found a way to attack more throughout the game.”
After taking the opener 25-17, the Lady Tigers began to find their rhythm offensively. Clay County cruised to a 25-12 victory in the second set before dominating the third, 25-7, to complete the sweep.
Sophomore Chloe Cornett stepped into a starting role and delivered a strong performance, finishing with 10 kills.
“I was really impressed with sophomore Chloe Cornett tonight for stepping up into a starting position and having 10 kills,” Culver said.
With another district victory secured, Culver said the Lady Tigers remain focused on what they hope to accomplish moving forward.
“This game was one step closer. One goal in mind. Go Big Clay.”
