Lynn Camp names Amy Shields as new girls’ varsity basketball coach

CORBIN — Lynn Camp High School welcomed Amy Shields as its new girls’ varsity basketball coach after she guided the Barbourville girls’ basketball program to its first appearance in the 13th Region Tournament since 2022 while the Lady Tigers went 11-15 while garnering six wins against regional competition.

“We are super-excited to get Amy here at Lynn Camp, not only as a coach, but in the classroom,” Lynn Camp athletic director Marc Estep said. “She will bring a ton of experience and she understands the dynamics of a small school. She has built programs up at her previous schools and we have the confidence she will do the same thing here. In the end, she will do what is right for the kids and the program.”

Shields will be taking over for former coach Janet Jones, who stepped down as head coach after posting a 6-18 mark during her only season at Lynn Camp.

Shields also becomes the eighth head coach for Lynn Camp since the 2018-19 season, the last time the Lady Wildcats reached the 13th Region Tournament.
