Knox Central Caps Tournament Run with Championship Performance

PINEVILLE — Knox Central left no doubt in the Kentucky 2A, Section 7 Championship game, rolling past Bell County 64–36 on Thursday to claim the section title.

The Lady Panthers took control early, building a 12–7 lead by the end of the first quarter and extending it to 29–12 at halftime. Knox Central continued to pull away in the second half, taking a commanding 53–27 advantage into the fourth quarter before closing out the championship win.

Knox Central was efficient on the offensive end, shooting 27-of-53 from the floor and knocking down 9-of-22 from three-point range. The Lady Panthers also dominated the glass with a 32–19 rebounding edge and forced 14 Bell County turnovers.

Shelbie Mills led the way with 24 points, including four three-pointers. She poured in 13 points in the third quarter to help break the game open. Kaylynn Smith added 13 points, while McKenzie Hensley finished with 11.

For Bell County, Nevaeh Allen led the Lady Bobcats with 10 points. Bristol Jordan scored nine, and Kairi Lamb chipped in eight points and four blocks in the loss. The Lady Bobcats were without the services of Gracie Barton, who suffered an injury in the semifinals.
