Hot Shooting Lifts Pineville Past Lynn Camp

CORBIN — Pineville pulled away in the second half to earn a 71–56 victory over Lynn Camp on Friday night, improving the Mountain Lions to 7–6 on the season while the Wildcats slipped to 5–11.
Jacob Grubbs led Pineville with 23 points, knocking down three three-pointers in the win. Kenton Brock followed with 15 points, while Anderson Gentry added 12. Noah Slone rounded out the balanced scoring with 10 points and three triples of his own.
Lynn Camp stayed within striking distance behind a strong night from Landen Rose, who finished with 19 points and three three-pointers. Caleb Woods added 14 points, including four shots from beyond the arc, and Conner Mabe chipped in 11.
Lynn Camp coach Marcus McKeehan said his team competed well early but struggled in key areas as the game wore on.
“Really good first quarter had a lead at the end of it,” he said. “Landen Rose got two quick and had to sit in second and we were still in good shape only down four at halftime.
“We really focused on limiting their threes, they made 12 at OBI,” McKeehan added. “We felt we done a pretty good job on that for the game. We got beat on the boards for the first time pretty bad in a long time, that is a key focus for us moving on. It’s all correctable mistakes and made some silly turnovers. Pineville played a good game, hats off to them. We will continue working.”
