CORBIN — A great crowd was on hand to watch Pineville and Jackson County faced off in the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic Championship.
The Lady Mountain Lions captured the championship by pulling out a 69-42 win.
Pineville came out of the gate aggressive, full-court pressing and trapping. This fast-paced play put the Mountain Lions up 21-10 at the end of the first quarter.
Just as quickly as Pineville moved on defense, they moved just as fast on the offensive side, passing the ball almost as soon as they caught it. Pineville got senior Rachel Howard involved early and often, whether she was scoring or passing out of the post. Pineville’s offense was rolling, taking a 43-27 halftime lead.
The second half was much of the same for Pineville, keeping the gas pedal down as they led 57-33 at the end of the third quarter. The Mountain Lions would go on to win by a score of 69-42.
Pineville was led in scoring by Rachel Howard with 20 points. Kaiti Hammontree, Kaelyn Burnett, Clara Strange, and Madison Johnson also scored in double figures for Pineville.
