CORBIN — The Corbin Redhounds ran into one of the best teams in the state on Monday, losing 78-52 to 11th Region power Madison Central.
The Redhounds (0-3) fell behind 20-7 in the first quarter, and never recovered.
Corbin trailed 48-23 at halftime, and 68-33 entering the fourth quarter.
Madison Central had four players in double figures with Luke Asher scoring 18 points, Grayson Burton tossing in 15 points, Jake Feldhaus adding 19 points, and Cam Steele scoring 10 points.
“Madison Central has a very impressive basketball team,” Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski said. “They will have a chance to win at a high-level all season. I was disappointed in our effort level tonight. We looked flat early and that got us in a bad situation.
“Important we compete harder tomorrow,” he added. “Berea will be a tough test for us. We will continue to work at it. We have a lot of competitive kids who will put the time into it.”
Corbin’s Evan Ellis led all scorers with 32 points while Eli Pietrowski added nine points.
