Collins holds off North Laurel, 34-27

SHELBYVILLE — North Laurel came up just short in a 34-27 loss to Collins on Friday, dropping the Jaguars to 2-3 on the season.
The Jaguars stayed within striking distance throughout the game and had a chance late, but a fumble with 4:25 remaining at the Collins 24-yard line ended a promising North Laurel possession.
“We played a really good game against one of the top offenses in the state,” North Laurel coach Steven Nelson said. “We ran the ball great all night and just lost two fumbles.”
Bryson Nantz turned in a strong performance for the Jaguars, consistently producing on the ground behind North Laurel’s offensive line.
“Bryson Nantz played outstanding football and ran hard all night behind the offensive line,” Nelson said.
North Laurel also came away from the game with some injury concerns as the Jaguars begin preparing for Southwestern.
“We got some guys banged up from getting pulling guards cut all night and need to get healthy for the next game,” Nelson said. “We focus on Southwestern now and get better each week.”
Despite the loss, Nelson remains encouraged by the direction of his team.
“I love this team and they still haven’t reached their peak. Go Jags.”
