LEXINGTON — Mother Nature may have cut things short, but Corbin still did enough Friday night to stay unbeaten.
The Redhounds picked up a 7-0 win over Bryan Station in a game that was called at halftime due to severe weather conditions.
The victory moved Corbin to 3-0 on the season, while the Defenders fell to 1-2.
“It was a different night for sure,” Corbin coach Luke Salmons said. “We only got to play two quarters. I’m proud of the kids to go on the road and collect a win versus a 6A school. We were down a couple of players, and I was proud of the kids stepping up.
“I’m excited about starting 3-0 and looking forward to improving each week,” he added. “Felt like we controlled the line of scrimmage, and played great defense. It was a good win on the road.”
After a scoreless first quarter, Corbin broke through early in the second when Cole Stevens powered into the end zone on a five-yard touchdown run with 11:33 remaining in the half. That proved to be the game’s only score before lightning and heavy storms forced the game’s cancellation after two quarters.
