Hungry, dedicated group ready to lead Corbin’s boys’ XC team

CORBIN — A hungry and dedicated group of runners are geared and ready to lead the Corbin boys’ cross country team back to the top of the region.
Corbin saw its five-year region dominance come to an end last season, but coach Tyler Harris says his team is ready to regain the top spot.
“We lost a pair of seniors but we have a motivated and dedicated group returning that have shown great focus in training this summer,” he said. “We have a lot of youth and a few upperclassmen that gel well together. The team is big which it’s important in developing because it creates daily competition.
Harris listed his runners he expects to step up this season:
• Kaleb Terrell, Junior. Kaleb is a very hard worker and has become a leader for the team. He pushes himself and the guys and keeps them accountable. He had a strong track season last spring.

• Kobe Dixon, Sophomore; Isaiah Curry, Sophomore. Both guys I look for to step up this year. They have put in a lot of work and show solid development this summer.

“We also have several freshmen that we will look to make a jump and put themselves in a position to contribute to the team,” he said.
Harris mentioned team chemistry as a huge asset for his team.
“I think we will be able to run a tight pack in races,” he said. We had a hiccup last year and our five-year win streak was broken. Sickness and injury bit us some but no excuses and the guys know that.
“We are looking for redemption and I believe these guys know what it takes from a mental and physical standpoint,” Harris added. “We have conversations about how to get back on top often. That said, I like my team and I’m confident that we can get back to number one.”
