Cardinals get it done on the road, beat Madison Central, 60-52

RICHMOND — South Laurel moved one step closer to win No. 20 thanks to a 60-52 win over Madison Central.

The Cardinals moved to 19-8 with the win and have two regular season games remaining — a home matchup against Lynn Camp on Thursday and a home matchup against Madison Central on Friday.

“The biggest thing tonight was how well our bench played,” South Laurel coach Jeff Davis said. “We got in foul trouble and guys came in and were focused and executed what we wanted to do. Three games in four days, I’m really proud of how our guys have played together and played with a great toughness.”

The Cardinals built a 35-24 halftime lead thanks to three 3-pointers by Colton Rawlings, who scored nine points in the first half along with Kaiden McQueen. Max Fullmer added six points in the first half while Jordan Mabe and Blaine Baker each had four points apiece. Josh Steele also knocked down a 3-pointer.

Mabe got the hot hand in the second half, scoring 16 of his team-best 20 points. He finished shooting 8-of-11 from the free-throw line.

Rawlings finished with five 3-pointers and 15 points while McQueen added 11 points, and Fullmer finished with six points. Steele and Baker each scored four points apiece.
