Lady Jaguars rally from seven-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat Bishop Brossart

FRANKFORT — North Laurel notched its 21st victory with a come from behind 54-46 win over Bishop Brossart.

Saturday’s matchup marked the third straight day Eddie Mahan’s squad had played.

The Lady Jaguars (21-2) were led by senior Brooke Nichelson’s 22-point scoring effort while Bella Sizemore added 12 points, and Mariella Claybrook finished with nine points.

North Laurel got off to a slow start, trailing 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, and 25-17 at halftime.

The Lady Jaguars began chipping away at their deficit in the third quarter with Nichelson scoring 11 of her team’s 13 points during the period to make the score 37-30 in Bishop Brossart’s favor with eight minutes remaining.

North Laurel almost matched its point total of the first three quarters combined in the final eight minutes.

Led by Sizemore’s nine points, the Lady Jaguars outscored Bishop Brossart, 24-9, to pick up the comeback from behind win.

North Laurel hit 6-of-12 free throw attempts in the fourth quarter while finishing 15-of-26 from the free-throw line for the game.
