Jaguars fall on the road to Trinity

EUREKA — It wasn’t a win, but it was a great learning experience as North Laurel dropped a 50-43 decision to Louisville Trinity.

The Jaguars fought throughout the contest, and cut their deficit to one point before the Shamrocks pulled out the seven point win.

“This was a great opportunity for our team to play in front of a sold out crowd,” North Laurel  coach Nate Valentine said. “We got off to a great start and stalled out in the second quarter.

“Our guys fought back to get it to one point late in the game but couldn’t come up with the winning play we needed,” he added. “I hope this experience will help us as we approach tournament time.”

North Laurel led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter behind a five-point scoring effort from Cooper Elza.

Trinity rallied in the second quarter, taking a 29-17 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Three-pointers from Jordan Rawlings and Reece Davidson cut the Jaguars’ deficit to 36-28 entering the fourth quarter, but the Shamrocks held on to grab the victory.

Davidson led North Laurel with 16 points while Rawlings finished with 10 points.
