Redhounds handed 59-49 loss during their second game of the Grace Health Cumberland Falls Invitational

CORBIN — Corbin’s run to capture the Grace Health Cumberland Falls Invitational championship came to an end on Sunday with a 59-49 loss to Ohio’s Little Miami High School.

The Redhounds dug themselves an early hole, trailing 15-10 at the end of the first quarter, and 29-18 at halftime.

Corbin (7-4) cut its deficit to 39-36 entering the fourth quarter, but Little Miami pulled away in the final eight minutes, outscoring the Redhounds, 20-13.

Tony Pietrowski’s squad’s struggles at the charity stripe played a big role in the loss. Corbin hit only 7-of-22 free throw attempts while Little Miami finished 6-of-9.

“Played another really solid team today,” Pietrowski said. “Well-coached, talented and play extremely hard. We played with tremendous effort which is very encouraging. It’ll also be a great game for us to revisit and see areas we can improve upon.

“We had some great looks at the rim that didn’t fall, missed a good amount of foul shots as well,” he added. “All that said, I’m excited to see how we respond tomorrow and can’t wait to get back on the floor with my guys.”

Eli Pietrowski led the Redhounds with 10 points while Ryder Akins and Conner Blackburn scored nine points apiece. Conner Middleton had eight points while Zach Reynolds scored seven points, and Dawson Farmer finished with six points.
