LEXINGTON — North Laurel held a 52-50 edge against DuPont Manual with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Crimsons scored and converted an old-fashioned 3-point play with 44 seconds left and never trailed again, winning, 56-52.
The Jaguars (8-3) got off to a slow start, falling behind 11-2, before catching fire.
North Laurel used a 14-6 run to close out the first quarter to cut its deficit to, 17-16.
The Jaguars built a 23-17 edge in the second quarter, and led, 29-24, at halftime.
DuPont Manual cut its deficit to one point (43-42) entering the fourth quarter before outscoring North Laurel, 14-9, during the game’s final eight minutes.
The Jaguars finished the game shooting 62.2 percent (23-of-37) while holding the Crimsons to 40.8 percent shooting (20-of-49).
North Laurel struggled from the free-throw line, hitting only 1-of-5 shot attempts while DuPont Manual was 8-of-14.
Reece Davidson led the Jaguars with 28 points on 13-of-16 shooting. He also had six rebounds, five assists and three blocks. RJ Noble, Kole Jervis, and Jordan Rawlings each finished with six points apiece.
North Laurel will be back in action Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
