CORBIN — Trey Person accounted for four touchdowns Friday night as Corbin raced out to a commanding first-half lead and defeated Harlan County 55-8.
The Redhounds improved to 5-2, while the Black Bears dropped to 3-4.
Person scored twice in the opening six minutes, first on a 12-yard run with 8:11 remaining and again from one yard out at the 6:09 mark. Mason Salmons then connected with Malachi Brown for a 15-yard touchdown pass, giving Corbin a 21-0 advantage after the first quarter.
Harlan County responded early in the second when Brayden Morris scored on a 12-yard run and added the two-point conversion to cut the deficit to 21-8.
Corbin answered immediately.
Person scored his third rushing touchdown on a four-yard run with 9:49 left before Salmons hit Tayton Cox for an 82-yard touchdown pass that stretched the lead to 35-8.
Person struck again just before halftime, this time through the air. Salmons found him for a 69-yard touchdown with 1:02 remaining, sending Corbin into the break ahead 41-8.
The Redhounds continued adding to the lead in the third quarter when Salmons connected with Clay Akins for a 35-yard touchdown pass, making it 48-8.
Cameron Nantz finished the scoring with a 59-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter, producing the 55-8 final.
Salmons threw four touchdown passes to four different receivers, while Person scored three times on the ground and once through the air as Corbin secured its second consecutive victory.
