LONDON — Reilly Stuber scored five goals as North Laurel turned in a dominant performance Thursday night, defeating Bourbon County 6-1.
The Jaguars improved to 11-5 after jumping out to a 4-0 halftime lead and keeping control of the match throughout the second half.
“I felt we came out fast tonight and were aggressive with our possession,” North Laurel coach David Broyles said. “We connected passes and found people in good positions to score. Defensively we were able to shut down a good Bourbon County attack for most of the night. We had one freak miscue that led to their lone goal.”
Stuber opened the scoring off an assist from Malik Turner. Bourbon County then put one into its own net before Stuber struck again, this time off a pass from Peyton McPhetridge.
Stuber completed his first-half hat trick with a goal assisted by Cam Anderson, giving North Laurel a 4-0 advantage at the break.
“We carried a 4-0 lead into halftime with 3 goals from Reilly Stuber and an own goal by Bourbon,” Broyles said.
Bourbon County scored early in the second half, but Stuber quickly answered. Tucker Ebersole assisted his fourth goal before Stuber added an unassisted fifth to complete the scoring.
“We gave up a goal early in the second half, but Stuber added two more goals to get us to the 6-1 final,” Broyles said. “I’m really proud of how the team came out and competed tonight against a good Bourbon County team.”
