Middlesboro continued its unbeaten start to the season Friday night, using an explosive first half to pull away from Lynn Camp for a 47-6 victory.
The Yellow Jackets improved to 6-0, while Lynn Camp fell to 1-5.
Middlesboro struck almost immediately when Deakon Partin connected with Josh Tinnel for a 70-yard touchdown with 11:34 remaining in the first quarter.
Lynn Camp answered with 5:03 left in the opening period. Alex Roberts recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown, cutting Middlesboro’s lead to 7-6 after the extra point was unsuccessful.
The Yellow Jackets responded just 24 seconds later. Colby Lawson returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, and the extra point pushed Middlesboro’s advantage to 14-6.
Jacob Tinnel added a 22-yard touchdown run with 2:19 remaining in the first, giving Middlesboro a 20-6 lead entering the second quarter.
The Yellow Jackets then broke the game open.
Partin connected with Amari Houston for a 35-yard touchdown with 10:43 left in the second quarter. Lawson followed with a 15-yard touchdown run at the 9:14 mark, and Brooklyn Huff scored on an eight-yard run with 4:51 remaining to send Middlesboro into halftime with a commanding 41-6 advantage.
Middlesboro’s defense provided the final points of the night when Jonathan Wilson returned an interception for a touchdown with 5:57 remaining in the third quarter.
