LONDON — South Laurel turned in one of its most complete performances of the season, sweeping Clay County 25-14, 25-12, 25-17 Thursday.
The Lady Cardinals established control from the start, taking the opening set 25-14 before delivering an even stronger performance in the second with a 25-12 victory.
“Great team win,” South Laurel coach Billy Ball said. “Tonight was probably the most consistent we have played all season. Clay County is a really strong team and very well coached. We knew we had to be ready from the start, and the girls absolutely were.”
South Laurel didn’t allow Clay County to gain enough momentum to extend the match. The Lady Cardinals finished off the straight-set victory with a 25-17 win in the third.
The service line played a significant role in South Laurel’s success, with the Lady Cardinals putting pressure on Clay County throughout the match.
“Our serves were really strong tonight and we were able to get several aces,” Ball said. “Always great to get a region win. Go Cards.”
