CORBIN — Jailee Goins scored twice and Corbin’s defense recorded a shutout as the Lady Redhounds defeated South Laurel, 3-0, in 49th District action.
The victory improved Corbin to 7-6-1 on the season while South Laurel fell to 3-8-1 with its third consecutive loss.
Goins put the Lady Redhounds on top with 3:25 remaining in the first half, breaking a scoreless tie and sending Corbin into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
Corbin quickly added to its lead in the second half. Goins struck again with 29:22 remaining, giving her two goals on the night and extending the Lady Redhounds’ advantage to 2-0.
Less than two minutes later, Hadley Elmore found the back of the net with 27:30 remaining to make it 3-0 and put Corbin firmly in control.
The Lady Redhounds’ defense took care of the rest, keeping South Laurel off the scoreboard and securing the district shutout.
The loss continued a difficult three-game stretch for South Laurel. The Lady Cardinals have been outscored 16-1 during their three-game losing streak while Corbin moved back above .500 with the victory.
