LONDON — South Laurel continued its impressive run Thursday, extending its winning streak to eight games with a 5-2 victory over Whitley County in 49th District boys soccer action.
The Cardinals improved to 10-2 on the season while Whitley County fell to 8-7 and saw its four-game winning streak come to an end.
South Laurel received goals from five different players in the victory. Chris Ramirez, Jase Jones, Angel Lopez and Kayden Farler each found the back of the net, while Drew Allen converted a penalty kick.
“I thought we could have moved the ball around better, but Whitley used speed in their attack to really give us problems,” South Laurel coach Brooks Cawood said.
Despite the three-goal win, Cawood credited the Colonels for challenging his team in an important district matchup.
“We play in a tough district and Whitley played a great competitive match,” Cawood said.
