RICHMOND — North Laurel battled Madison Central through a competitive first half, but the Jaguars struggled to maintain possession after the break as Madison Central pulled away for a 4-1 victory.
“I felt like we started the game off well and had a pretty good first half, but we didn’t possess the ball like we needed to,” North Laurel coach David Broyles said. “We had some early opportunities, but didn’t capitalize, and Central opened the scoring.”
North Laurel answered after falling behind. Sawyer Miller connected with Cam Anderson off a corner kick, with Anderson finding the back of the net to even the match at 1-1.
“We tied it up off a corner with Sawyer Miller assisting Cam Anderson for the goal,” Broyles said. “Central would go in leading 2-1 at the half.”
Madison Central took control during the second half as North Laurel had trouble working the ball out of its defensive end.
“Second half, we were on our heels for most of the half and just couldn’t get the passes right to get it out of our defensive half,” Broyles said. “I feel that fatigue got to us some in the second half, and we let two more goals in to make the final 4-1.”
