Hale, Mahan Power Whitley County Past Middlesboro, 8-0

WILLIAMSBURG — Tucker Hale and Tootie Mahan combined for all eight of Whitley County’s goals as the Colonels (2-1) rolled to an 8-0 win over Middlesboro.

Hale turned in a five-goal performance while adding an assist. Mahan recorded a hat trick and dished out five assists to lead an explosive Whitley County attack.

“Senior Tucker Hale and junior Tootie Mahan led the way for us offensively,” Whitley County coach Michael Branham said. “We were without three starters tonight, so I am proud of our guys for stepping up and filling the gaps.”

Skyler Mahan and Ean Collins also contributed an assist apiece for the Colonels.

Whitley County was just as impressive on the other end of the field.

Junior goalkeeper Clyde Johnson recorded his second shutout in three games while senior Caden Collett continued to anchor the Colonels’ defense.

“Junior keeper Clyde Johnson played well tonight and got his second shutout in three games,” Branham said. “Senior Caden Collett has been leading us defensively. Just overall proud of the team and feel good heading into the 2A tournament next week.”
