RICHMOND — Corbin overcame an opening-set loss and battled through three tightly contested sets to capture a 3-1 road victory over Madison Southern in its season opener.
The Lady Redhounds dropped the first set, 25-20, but responded by taking the second set by the same score, 25-20.
Corbin grabbed control of the match with a 25-22 victory in the third set before Madison Southern pushed the Lady Redhounds to the limit in the fourth.
Corbin came through when it mattered, winning 26-24 to close out the match.
“I’m proud of our girls for finding a way to get a win on the road tonight,” Corbin coach Krystal Jones said. “It wasn’t our cleanest volleyball, and there are definitely things we need to tighten up, but good teams learn how to win even when they aren’t playing their best.
“We stayed together, battled through some tough stretches, and found a way to finish,” she added. “We’ll take the win, learn from it, and keep getting better. As always, it’s a great day to be a Redhound.”
