ASHLAND — The 13th Region has been represented well during first round action of the Boys’ State Singles Tennis Tournament.
North Laurel’s Gavin Martin secured a spot in the second round with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Pikeville’s Ashton Tackett. Martin will now face-off against Russell’s Bryson Hill, who advanced with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Corbin’s Nate Hill cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Hazard’s Kenton Dunn and will now play Lawrence County’s Chase Kendrick, who won his first round match, 6-1, 6-0.
Whitley County’s Jacob Ridener moved on to second round play, defeating Lawrence County’s Alex Desario, 6-2, 6-4, and will play Morgan County’s Adam Gunnell, who won his first round match, 6-0, 6-0.
Oneida Baptist’s Isaac Cho secured a second round spot by defeating Knott Central’s Drannan Amburgey, 6-2, 6-1, and now plays Ashland’s Chris Peacock, who won his first round match, 6-1, 6-0.
