CORBIN — Lydia King scored three runs and Macie Santos tossed six shutout innings Thursday as Corbin rolled past Harlan County, 8-1.
The victory continued Corbin’s late-season surge as the Lady Redhounds (13-18) have now won eight of their last nine games after battling through injuries earlier this season. Coach Crystal Stidham has helped rally the team back into form heading into the postseason.
King led the Lady Redhounds at the plate with a pair of hits, including a triple, while driving in a run and scoring three times. Sawyer Stamper added two hits and an RBI, Apple Terrell collected two hits and drove in a run, and Abbie Mott doubled and scored twice.
Corbin scored two runs in the first inning and added to its lead throughout the game, pushing across runs in five different innings to pull away.
Santos was dominant in the pitcher’s circle, allowing just four hits over six shutout innings while striking out eight. Stamper worked the seventh inning and struck out two more batters.
