Lady Colonels fall short in 6-3 loss to Leslie County

WILLIAMSBURG — Olivia Anderson blasted a home run and finished with two RBI, but it wasn’t enough as Whitley County dropped an eight-inning battle to Leslie County 6-3 on Thursday.

Anderson led the Lady Colonels (11-22) at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a homer. Mia Prewitt added a hit and RBI while Katelyn Shepherd collected two hits. Bella Trent doubled and scored a run for Whitley County.

The Lady Colonels tied the game at three apiece with a run in the seventh inning before Leslie County pulled away with three runs in the top of the eighth.

Megan McKiddy turned in a strong performance in the circle despite taking the loss, striking out 10 batters across eight innings. She allowed eight hits and four earned runs while walking only one.

Whitley County finished with nine hits in the loss, including doubles from Trent and McKiddy.
