Redhounds outlast Bell County in 10-inning 4-2 win

PINEVILLE — Corbin outlasted Bell County in 10 innings Thursday, pushing across two runs in the top of the 10th to secure a 4-2 road victory.

The Redhounds continued their late-season momentum with the win, improving to 18-15 overall while winning four of their last five games.

“Complete team win tonight,” Corbin coach Cody Philpot said. “Our pitchers did great and kept us in the game until we were able to scratch a few across. A lot of guys stepped up in different ways and that’s always great to see.”

Dallas Merida sparked the Corbin offense with a triple, RBI and run scored while Carson Taylor added a hit and drove in two runs. Landon Walters collected two hits and scored twice, and Levi Brock doubled and reached base three times after being hit by two pitches.

Corbin tied the game at one-all in the second inning and again at two apiece in the fourth inning before finally breaking through in the 10th inning.

Clay Botner delivered a huge effort on the mound in relief, tossing four shutout innings and allowing no hits while striking out three to earn the win. Eli Maynes closed the door in the 10th for the save.
