Allen silences Pulaski’s bats in 4-0 Whitley County win

WILLIAMSBURG — Kip Allen fired a one-hit shutout and drove in two runs Tuesday as Whitley County bounced back with a 4-0 victory over Pulaski County.

“Good win for our team on Senior Night,” Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. “We got four seniors that are special to our program. So glad we got them a win on their last game at home. Kip was special tonight. He threw a complete game shutout with nine strikeouts and zero walks. He also had a day at the plate going 3-for-3. Proud of our guys for bouncing back tonight and beating a good Pulaski County team. Go Colonels.”

Allen dominated on the mound from start to finish, striking out nine without issuing a walk in a complete-game gem for the Colonels. At the plate, the freshman also went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBI and two doubles to help lead Whitley County’s offense.

Henry Bowling scored twice and added an RBI while Luke Hillard collected an RBI single. Ethan Allen and Spencer Bargo also recorded hits for the Colonels, who finished with seven overall.

Whitley County scored twice in the first inning before adding insurance runs in the fifth inning to secure the shutout victory.

The Colonels improved to 32-3 with the win and avoided back-to-back losses for the first time this season. Whitley County has now won 20 of its last 21 games.
