WILLIAMSBURG — Olivia Anderson and Mia Prewitt combined for six hits and five RBI Tuesday as Whitley County rolled past McCreary Central, 12-1.
Anderson went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Prewitt finished 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored to lead an 18-hit attack for the Lady Colonels (11-21).
“Really good win for us,” Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. “I was glad to see us bounce back from a tough loss last night at Harlan County. We have been playing much better lately. We have been hitting the ball really well and Megan continues to be great from the circle.
“This was a special night as we recognized our senior, Sidney Hubbard,” he added. “She played a great game! We appreciate all she has done for our softball program over the years and we look forward to all the wonderful things she going to do in the future. I think we are peaking at the right time and playing some pretty solid softball right now, proud of our kids.”
Whitley County broke open a tight game with a six-run third inning before adding six more runs in the fourth inning to end the contest early.
Jalyn McKay added two hits and two RBI, while Sidney Hubbard collected two hits and drove in two more runs. Payton Hurst and Jazlynn Brown each added two-hit performances in the win.
Megan McKiddy earned the win in the pitcher’s circle, allowing just four hits and one unearned run while striking out seven across five innings.
