Cardinals’ losing skid hits five games

DANVILLE — South Laurel striggeled at the plate Tuesday as Boyle County broke open a scoreless game late to hand the Cardinals a 4-0 loss.

Reece Noble and Waylon Hensley each collected two hits for South Laurel while Jacob Culler and Jackson Catching added singles. Hensley also ripped a triple for the Cardinals.

Culler kept South Laurel in the game on the mound, allowing just six hits and two earned runs across six innings while striking out four.

Boyle County finally broke through with two runs in the fifth inning before adding two more in the sixth inning to secure the shutout victory.

With less than one week remaining in the regular season, South Laurel has now dropped five consecutive games and fell to 20-14 overall.
