MT. VERNON — Rockcastle County snapped Corbin’s six-game winning streak Monday, defeating the Lady Redhounds, 8-0.
The Lady Redhounds had been hitting on all cylinders the past two weeks, but struggled at the plate while falling to 11-18.
Rockcastle County broke open a close game with a five-run third inning after taking an early 1-0 lead in the second. The Lady Rockets added two more runs in the sixth inning to pull away.
Corbin was limited to just two hits in the contest with Kaili Sanders and Macie Santos recording the Lady Redhounds’ only hits. Santos doubled while Sanders added a single.
Sawyer Stamper started in the circle for Corbin and allowed six runs, three earned, on five hits over four innings while striking out two. Apple Terrell pitched the final two innings, giving up two runs on two hits while striking out two.
