WILLIAMSBURG — The best goes on for the Whitley County Colonels.
Whitley County ran its win streak to a program-record 19 wins while improving to 31-2 thanks to victories over Madison Southern (4-2), and Great Crossing (15-0) on Saturday.
“Beautiful day for baseball,” Whitley County coach Jeremy Shope said. “Nice to be at home and have our fans come out. Got to see some alumni that you don’t get to see everyday. We had two solid outings from Hillard and Parman. We played good fundamental defense today. Our bats exploded in the second game. Proud of how our team cheers for each other.
“It’s special when they get excited for a teammate and not thinking about themselves,” he added. “Good team wins today. We play some really good teams next week before heading into postseason. Go Colonels.”
Game One
Whitley County 4, Madison Southern 2
The Colonels received another impressive pitching effort from Luke Hillard as the Colonels slipped past Madison Souther, 4-2, while improving to 30-2.
Hillard notched another complete game while allowing four hits, and two earned runs, and finishing no with 10 strikeouts.
Hillard, Ethan Allen, Cooper Parman, and Caden Mountjoy each finished with a hit and an RBI apiece. Dee Parker led Whitley County with two hits.
Game Two
Whitley County 15, Great Crossing 0
The Colonels (31-2) ran their win streak to a program-best 19 games after cruising past Great Crossing with a 15-0 win.
Cooper Parman was almost unhittable on the mound while Ethan Allen dominated at the plate in the win.
Parman tossed all three innings while allowing one hit and striking out four batters. Allen connected with a home run, collected three hits, drove in a run and scored three times.
Luke Hillard was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBI Dee Parker was 2-for-2 with four FBI and and one run scored. Ty Petrey had a hit and three RBI while Caden Mountjoy and Kaden Powers both had a hit and drove in a run apiece. Kip Allen had an RBI and scored twice while Henry Bowling also scored twice. Spencer Bargo finished with one run scored.
