GEORGETOWN — South Laurel saw its four-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday with a 7-1 loss to Great Crossing.
The Cardinals (20-10) were limited to six hits while the Warhawks capitalized on opportunities late in the game, scoring three runs in the sixth inning to pull away.
South Laurel’s lone run came in the fifth inning as Wilkelver Gaviria-Zuleta scored while Reece Noble drove in the Cardinals’ only run.
Waylon Hensley led South Laurel with three hits while Quinn Strunk, Jackson Catching, and Gaviria-Zuleta each added a hit. Strunk and Gaviria-Zuleta both doubled.
South Laurel used three pitchers in the loss. Catching started and allowed two runs over three innings while Jacob Culler and Luka Jackson also saw action on the mound.
Great Crossing managed just five hits but took advantage of four walks and South Laurel’s two errors.
