The Jackson County Generals captured the All-A sectional for the first time in school history with an 18-14 win over Wolfe County, and will play in the Elite 8 against Beechwood Saturday.
“I am so proud of our team,” Jackson County coach Jacob Bowling said. “We have played a really tough stretch of baseball games. We had been struggling to find a way to push through and close a complete game out. I firmly believe those battles are meant to sharpen us and prepare us for postseason play. We finally got our sticks warmed up and we were able to beat a final four team from last year’s state tournament team that brought back eight starters. Go Generals.”
Elijah Thomas picked up the win on the mound, throwing six innings while giving up five earned runs, and striking out four batters. Dylan Gay picked up the save pitching the final .2 innings while striking out one better.
