Lady Cardinals cap off regular season district play with 15-0 win

LONDON — South Laurel wrapped up its regular season dominance against 50th District competition thanks to a 15-0 win over Whitley County on Thursday.

The Lady Cardinals notched the district’s top season by posting a 6-0 mark against district teams while improving to 19-4 while the Lady Colonels fell to 6-13, and 1-4 vs. district teams.

“Offensively, we were very productive throughout the lineup,” South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. “Got runners on, moved them around and had some great at bats to drive runners in. We had a big swing from Skye Lawson with the bases loaded that got things going for us. Kenzie was great again tonight, attacking the strike zone.”

South Laurel scored a run in the first inning before adding sevens runs in both the second and third innings. The Lady Cardinals pushed their win streak to six games while outscoring their opponents, 49-0, the past three games.

Kenzie Williams notched another win, allowing only a hit while striking out eight batters. She also helped her own cause by collecting two hits while driving in three runs.

Skye Lawson connected with a home run, finishing with two hits, four RBI, and two runs scored. Ryleigh Bretz, Lexi Messer, and Audrey Likins drove in a run apiece while Bailey Frazier finished with two hits and three runs scored. Aubrie Messer went 2-for-2 with an RBI, and a run scored.
