SLHS names Amy Corum new head girls soccer coach

LONDON — Amy Corum has been named the next head girls’ soccer coach at South Laurel High School.  After completing her high school play at North Laurel High School, she continued for two seasons at Union College and finished at the University of Pikeville, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice.

Amy joined the SLHS staff last season and also serves as the head coach for South Laurel Middle School girls’ soccer.  She is married with one daughter.

“For me, coaching is about more than just the game,” Corum said. “It’s about building confidence, teaching life lessons, and helping players understand what it means to be part of something bigger than themselves.”

South Laurel athletic director Jep Irwin said Corum made an immediate impact with her knowledge of the sport and dedication to South Laurel’s student athletes last season as an assistant coach.

“We are excited to have her take on this new role and lead our program in the coming seasons,” he said. “Go Cards.”

South Laurel principal Dr. Jeremy Kidd said he’s excited to welcome Corum as South Laurel’s new head girls’ soccer coach.

“Her passion for the game, commitment to student-athletes, and leadership will be a tremendous asset as she builds a program focused on growth, teamwork, and success,” he said. “Go Cards.”
