MANCHESTER — North Laurel became the first team in the 13th Region to earn a berth into the regional tournament after locking up the top seed in the 49th District by defeating Clay County, 9-2, on Monday.
The win, North Laurel’s sixth in a row, improved the Jaguars to 11-7 while the Tigers fell to 9-8.
Cam Smith came up big with a grand slam while Colton Stewart got another win in the mound, finishing with six strikeouts while allowing only two runs. Cooper Elza, Cam Hinkle and Colter Elza each delivered three hits apiece in the win.
