LONDON — North Laurel’s Cam Hinkle delivered when needed once again, driving in the eventual game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning as the Jaguars pulled off a 2-1 victory over Madison Southern.
The win, North Laurel’s fifth in a row, improved the red-hot Jaguars to 11-7.
Coach Darren McWhorter also received a stellar pitching effort from Zac Johnston, who tossed 6.2 innings while allowing two hits, no earned runs and finished with seven strikeouts. Eli Holt picked up the save.
“Jags are on a five-game win streak thanks to sound defense, a solid performance on the mound by Zac Johnston and some timely hitting,” McWhorter said. “Zac threw a great game going 6.2 innings with seven Ks and zero earned runs and Eli Holt threw .1 innings, recording the last out to secure the win and getting the save. In hitting, we were led by senior Cooper Robinson with a triple and a single with two runs scored. Cooper Elza and Cam Hinkle had one hit each and one RBI each.”
