LONDON — North Laurel’s Presley Griffin continued her red-hot play at the plate during Thursday’s 5-1 win over Madison Southern.
The freshman delivered another home run while going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored.
Both Emma Carl and Katie Sams connected with three hits apiece in the win while Bella Finley had two hits.
Tessa Monhollen tossed a gem in the pitcher’s circle, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out 12 batters as the Lady Jaguars improved to 16-2.
“Good night tonight for our girls,” North Laurel coach Chris Edwards said. “We had a bunch of hits up and down the lineup but couldn’t string together the big inning. We left a bunch of runners on base also but we had some really good At bats and some good swings tonight.
“Multiple hits from Emma Carl, Katie Sams, Bella Finley, and Presley Griffin,” he added. “One of Presley Griffin’s hits was a two-out home run that extended our lead. Two-out hits are such an important part of this game. Tessa was again great in the circle tonight. Only three hits and one earned run to go with 12 strikeouts. Really mixed it up and threw another great game. Defense played well behind her tonight again as well. One more game this week on Saturday with Franklin County before our next district match up. Go Jags.”
