LEXINGTON — After slugging five home runs during its last game, South Laurel followed with a three-homer effort against Lafayette on Thursday, and needed every one of them.
The Lady Cardinals (15-4) overcame six errors that led to seven unearned runs to knock off the Lady Generals in a slugfest, 17-12.
“Throughout the season you have to find different ways to win,” South Laurel coach Carly Mink said. “Tonight, we had to up to put up a big number offensively to get the job done. A lot of great at bats with timely hits. Aubrie Messer battled in the circle all night and fought through adversity.”
Morgan Jackson, Kiley Dunaway, and Ryleigh Bretz each homered in the win while Aubrie Messer locked up the win in the pitcher’s circle.
Lexi Messer was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two RBI, and three runs scored while Bretz was 3-for-4 with three RBI, and three runs scored. Dunaway was 4-for-5 with five RBI, and two runs scored. Morgan Jackson and Kenzie Williams finished with two hits, and two RBI apiece while Bailey Frazier and Emmie Rice had a hit and two RBI apiece,
