BARBOURVILLE — Jackson County wasted little time taking control and never looked back, using a big third inning to cruise to a 12-2 win over Knox Central on Thursday.
The Lady Generals (10-2) broke things open with a seven-run third inning, turning a tight game into an easy victory.
Kylie Moore led the way both at the plate and in the pitcher’s circle.
Moore finished with three runs scored, a hit and three RBI, including a triple while also picking up the win. The right-hander tossed five innings, allowing just four hits and two runs (none earned) while striking out five.
Jackson County’s lineup produced up and down the order.
Lexi Brockman went 2-for-3 with an RBI while Kylee Martin scored twice and drove in a run.
Amber Smith delivered a key extra-base hit and drove in two runs, and Aubrey McCowan added a hit and a run as the Lady Generals finished with nine hits and drew six walks.
Knox Central (3-8) managed four hits in the loss. Sydney Grubb, Shelbi Smith, Autumn Bryant, and Bailey Hubbard each recorded hits while Kaylei Gambrel-Garrison scored one of the Lady Panthers’ two runs.
In the circle, Blakely Castle took the loss for Knox Central, allowing 12 runs (nine earned) on nine hits over four innings.
