CORBIN — Corbin’s bats were red-hot during Monday’s 50th District battle with Whitley County.
The Lady Redhounds (4-12) pounded out eight hits while taking advantage of five errors to pull off a convincing 20-5 win over the Lady Colonels.
Corbin built a 10-2 lead after two innings of play before cruising to the 15-run win.
“So proud of our Lady Redhounds tonight,”Corbin coach Crystal Stidham said. “They showed up ready to hit and made things happen. So proud of my freshman Macie Santos. She gave a stellar effort on the mound and her defense was there to work for her — solid four innings and she struck out eight, then the bats came alive and took care of the game to shut them down for the win.
“Macie also was solid at the plate, she drove in five runs on two hits,” she added. “Our girls were solid at the plate tonight looking to hit. Apple Terrell, Kaili Sanders, Lydia King, Cami Price, Allie Neeley, and Parker Davis all collected hits tonight, and the girls took advantage of six walks as well. Just a great night all around for our team. Big district win and proud of my girls.”
