Harlan County captures seventh win in a row

HARLAN — Behind a dominant outing in the pitcher’s circle from Alexis Adams, Harlan County pulled away late to defeat Harlan 5-2 on Friday.

In a game that stayed tight through five innings, the Lady Black Bears (10-3) put the game away in the sixth inning, scoring two runs to stretch a one-run lead into a 5-2 edge.

Adams turned out to be the deciding factor.

The junior pitcher went the distance, allowing just one hit and two runs (one earned) over seven innings while striking out six and walking two.

At the plate, Harlan County got production throughout its lineup, led by a big day from Jordyn Smith.

Smith finished 2-for-4 with a home run, double and RBI. Raegan Landa went 1-for-4 with a triple and RBI while Bella Miniard drove in a run. Carmen Thomas also chipped in, going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk while Adams and Aniston Burton each added a hit.
