Redhounds capture win No. 8 with 9-6 victory over Russell County

CORBIN — Corbin’s Bret Estep, and Cam Estep led the way at the plate Friday during the Redhounds’ 9-6 win over Russell County.

Bret Estep went 3-for-3 with one RBI, and one run scored while Cam Estep was 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run scored, and three stolen bases.

The Redhounds (8-5) scored five runs in the first inning before seeing their lead cut to 5-4 entering the bottom of the fourth. Corbin added two runs in the bottom half of the inning while adding two more runs in the fifth inning to secure the win.

“Good win for us,” Corbin coach Cody Philpot said. “We continued to do a pretty good job getting the timely hits and taking advantage of opportunities. Cam and Trey continued to hit it well and take what pitchers give them and all three pitchers did well, Brady logged his first start and Bret ended up in another situation and finished it out.” 

Levi Brock added two hits and an RBI while Jaden Broughton finished with a hit and two RBI. Malachi Zachery, Trey Person, and Kaiden Freeman also drove in runs during the win.

Cam Estep was credited with the win while Bret Estep pitched the final three innings, securing the save.
